Listed are a few tips that can help to make your road trip an enjoyable, safe and trouble free experience

Check your Tires - Inflate to proper pressure, Replace smooth tires, Inspect tire tread for uneven wear, this is an indication that the wheels are out of alignment.

Check Hoses and belts - Cracks in belt and hoses indicate replacement, check for firmness of hoses, if soft replace. Check with your mechanic to arrange an inspection.

Check Fluids - All fluids should be checked, this includes engine oil, transmission, coolants, brake fluid, power steering and windshield washer fluids.

Spending 15 minutes to go through this checklist can make the difference between a trip of bliss or a hell of a trip.

These tips do not guarantee that your car will be not be stolen but will make it a hassle for the would be thief. If they think your car is too much trouble they seek easier targets. Making it more difficult and time consuming to steal your car will greatly enhance the chances of your car not being stolen.

Get professional installation of an audible car alarm -There are several reputable companies listed that offer this service. Speak with their experts; let them suggest a package that suits you. These may include engine kill features, inaudible alerts etc.

Never leave your car running even for just a few seconds to purchase an item in a store or gas station. Remember the movie "Gone in 60 seconds"
